The quality of data is the responsibility of the organisation capturing the data.
The minimum data requirements have been based on recommendations by NUAG. The U-Track software developed by Trac-ID will simply prompt users for the required information. Please visit the Trac-ID website for more information on the U-Track data collection software.
3M markers are capable of storing information. However, using the Intelligent Trench software it is neither necessary nor recommended to do so. Users should enter data using the U-Track software which will then send the data to the central database hosted by Exor.
Only authorised users will have access to data stored on the Intelligent Trench database. Users can specify when collecting data if it should be either hidden or available to other users.
Data can be subsequently amended by authorised users via online access to the Intelligent Trench database.
Normally not, however please contact Exor to discuss this further.
Data accuracy is the responsibility of those would are collecting the data although best practice guidelines and recommendations are provided. For more information, please see your End User License agreements with Trac-ID and Exor. To ensure security, only authorised users will have access to the database and users can select data restriction options to ensure confidentiality is preserved.
Utilities should be located to an accuracy of 100mm which is not normally easily achieved with affordable GPS. We recommend GPS devices should have an accuracy of 2-5m only; the 3M Dynatel™ locator will then take you very accurately to the location of the marker and related asset information.
The U-Track software will manage this for you – either directly over the cellular network if the GPS has a modem as per our recommendations, or later via direct connection to a PC connected to the internet.
Individual marker locations will be shown on a web browser alongside markers installed by other users. It will be possible to search for markers by post code for example. Subscription services available from Exor may be offered from time to time with enhanced functionality.
Please visit the Trac-ID website to see details of our recommended GPS PDA, with a list of supported platforms and minimum specifications.
Please visit our How it works page to see a step by step guide to creating an Intelligent Trench.
Anyone who has successfully registered will be able to access and download the standard version of the software at no charge.
There is no charge for basic level data storage and access. This includes access to the Intelligent Trench dataset to view individual records including the attribute data and any associated photographs. Additional data offerings and subscription services may be available from time to time, as offered by Exor. Please visit the Exor website for more information.
